Colorful Impressions by Melinda Hürzeler

(mcj) In daily work as well as in her free time Melinda Hürzeler from Pontresina constantly works with one thing: the pencil. As a draftsman she mainly brings straight lines to paper, but after work she creates portraits, either with charcoal or ink. The 19-year old also captures landscapes in Aquarelle or Oil pastel. The exhibited paintings at the Hotel Waldhaus am See in St.Moritz though, belong to a completely different working-area of Melinda Hürzeler: The bright Neocolor-paintings mainly show subjects of the sports-world. There are dynamic scenes of a polo game, exciting final sprints of trotting and gallop races of the White Turf. Next to horses, sulkies and horsemen, also cross-country skiers catch our eyes. Skaters and classical skiers fight individually or in groups with speed and style through the vast snowfields of the Engadin. On white paper these colorful competition scenes create a great contrast and transmit a thrilling dynamic.
